Jerry Shang(China)

Jerry (Shang Haiping), graduated from Liaocheng Teachers' College as an English major. He worked as an English teacher or English interpreter & translator or English editor for the following schools or companies, in long or short terms, i.e. Laoling No. 1 High School, Nanfu Translator's Co, Beijing Nixiang English School, New Oriental Software Co, Fairland Translation Co and Phoenix Satellite TV (Shenzhen). He likes to make friends with people and feels at home in GLV. He is devoted to helping students to speak English, and help foreign friends to speak Chinese. His hobbies: Weiqi (Go) and table tennis.

 

Sandy Hufano (Philippines)

Sandy considers teaching as a noble profession. Far from her Bachelor's Degree in Management and Accounting, she never gave up her dream to be a teacher. She rendered community services to young people in the Philippines. When she came to China to take her TEFL course, she found Chinese people warm-hearted and friendly. Young as she is, with radiant smile, her goal is to do her share in this world to be a productive person and what better place to achieve that- the teaching force!

 

Robyn Blocker ( USA )

As a child living in a Texas town of 8 people, Robyn used to wonder what the rest of the world was like. After receiving her English degree from the University of North Texas , she got her TEFL Certificate in Zhuhai. With its wonderful people, food, and culture, she knew China was the place for her to start her teaching career. She loves to read and write in her spare time. Her ultimate goal is to publish both fiction and nonfiction before she is 100 years old. In the meantime, she wants to make a difference in the lives of others. She looks forward to helping the GLV students achieve their own goals.


Jonathan C. Medel ( Philippines )

Jonathan C. Medel was born in Jagna, Bohol , Philippines on May 14, 1970. He finished his Bachelor in Secondary Education (major in English) in 2002 and Master of Arts in Education ( major in Psychology & Guidance) in 2006. He taught college English from 2002-2006 at West Negros College , Bacolod city, Philippines . He worked also in Harbin , China as an English teacher in a middle school and in Foshan City as a Kindergarten teacher. Right now, he is at GLV, Zhuhai because he wants to help the Chinese people improve their English proficiency and to become globally competitive.

 


Satria Cahyadi (Dee) ( Indonesia )
Dee was born in Indonesia , but his great grandfather was originally from China . After obtaining his degree in Graphic Design, he came to China to study Putonghua in Xiamen University for a year. Dee has worked as a graphic designer in Singapore , but decided to quit his job and pursue his dream to come back to China . In March 2007 he took the TEFL course in Zhuhai and began to teach in GLV. Watching movies, cooking, traveling, shopping, and playing electronic games are his favorite activities. With his Chinese language learning experience, he hopes that he can help Chinese students to use English.


Sheila (Philippines)
Sheila P. Jardeleza is from the Philippines . She has a Degree in Secondary Education in English and also has earned some units in Master of Arts in Education. She has been an English teacher for more than 10 years. She likes poetry, music, reading, and traveling with friends. Her desire to improve her skills and knowledge in her chosen field prompted her to explore a wider world of being an educator. She believes that being at GLV is another open door for the realization of her dreams.

 

 

Timothy James Reid ( Canada )

Tim comes from Southern Ontario , Canada . He has worked many jobs in Canada , including working with 1500 pound buffalos to irate debtors. Tim graduated from Niagara College and spent some time working as a law clerk with different lawyers from around the Southern Ontario area. Tim has always been interested in coming to China , and decided to come and take a TEFL course. Tim finished his TEFL course, here at G.L.V. with TEFL International at the end of April 2007, and immediately started working here at G.L.V. Tim hopes that his experiences from Canada will give the students some fun, interesting and useful knowledge.


Jane Castaneda Basino ( Philippine )

Jane Castaneda Basino is a Filipina. She is a graduate of a Bachelor; in Elementary Education at The University of Nueva Caceres. She has 4 years teaching experience in Private and public schools in the Philippines and 2 years experience as a fitness instructer in Riyadh K.S.A. She loves dancing, singing, and acting. She was a teakwondo and karate coach and trainer in her previous schools. She plays table tennis, volleyball, boxing, badminton, etc. She wants to learn mandarin, Cantonese and taichi. She likes to impart knowledge and love being with students.



Sharon Rose Anderson (USA)

Sharon is from the USA. She received a BA in anthropology and an MA in Chinese art history from the University of Illinois.  During graduate study, she spent two years in China from 1983-1985.  Ever since that time, she has longed to return as a contributing visitor to this magnificent country.  She hopes that her deep appreciation for the Chinese people and culture can aid in cross-cultural understanding.

 


Casey Grimes ( USA )
Casey recently graduated with a major in History from a North Carolina college . Her passions are swimming, scuba diving, traveling, and learning about other cultures through students, staff, and people she meets on her journeys. Other interests include Harry Potter novels, music of all sorts, international food, and loving life. Casey has had jobs of all sorts which include life-guarding, waitressing, selling books door-to-door, and working with a traveling lemonade stand. Out of all of these jobs, Casey thinks she will like teaching the best. Zhuhai and GLV have been Casey's first experiences in China .

 

Robert Ayres ( Australia )
Robert is Australian and studied journalism at RMIT University in Melbourne . He has travelled around the world twice which fuelled his love for travelling and meeting people. Teaching English was the perfect career-change choice. He taught pronunciation to Asian students whilst deciding where to teach overseas. He chose China for its amazing history and the mystique of its people. He taught at Xiaolan Government schools before coming to GLV. He loves the Chinese lifestyle and is learning Mandarin because he plans to stay a while .


Ann Cruz ( Philippine)
Ann comes from the Philippines and has a Bachelor of Science in Education, major in General Science and minor in English. She's a licensed teacher and passed a qualifying exam to teach in Texas, USA. Her experiences include teaching children and adults in the Philippines, Hong Kong and China. She believes teaching is the most challenging profession and says, "I am happy to be a part of the development of English in China and impart whatever knowledge I have."



Ring Xu (China)
Ring graduated from?college and taught English in a middle school?for three years.She then went to the?United Arab Emirates, studying and working there for?three years. Ring completed her TEFL training in GLV?and then decided to work?in GLV. She loves traveling and innovative things and ideas. Ring has been to many countries and hopes that you will bring your creative ideas?to her. She would love?to share her experiences in English learning and traveling with you.

 


Kelly Li (China)
Kelly Li comes from Taizhou in Zhejiang province .She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a TEM8 certificate. French is her second foreign language. She's a TEFL graduate as well. Before graduation she worked in a foreign trading company. She's interested in business, listening to music, playing table tennis and shopping. She enjoys the unique learning and teaching styles of GLV.

 


May Ling Chang (Singapore)
May Ling Chang has over ten years of experience in training and organisational development. She has worked with various multi-cultural groups having been based and delivered training programmes in countries including Australia, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and the United States of America. May Ling studied in Canada and she enjoys trekking in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and all the beautiful parts of Canada. She obtained her Masters in Decision Sciences from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom. May Ling looks forward to sharing her work experience with all the wonderful students of GLV.


Thea Hopkins (Australia)
Thea Hopkins was born and raised near the gold coast in Australia. After attending the University of Queensland in Brisbane, she graduated with a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours) in 2006. Her work history is interesting and varied.She has been a counselor, receptionist, swimming instructor and waitress. She loves to travel and wanted to come to China to experience the culture of the country and to learn about its history. She also wants to be able to teach you about her culture and create a fun environment for you to learn in.

 


Albert Eugene Arline(USA)
Albert is from Virginia in the USA. He went to a small, quiet college where he studied government. During school he was able to study and travel to several parts of Latin America. After graduating he took an office job for a shipping company for two years before deciding to come to China to teach English. As a TEFL student in GLV he was impressed by the school and the students and decided this is where he wanted to teach.

 


Winston Wang (China)
Winston is from Shandong Province. His major in college was Automation. After graduation he taught in an English training school. He chose the unique training system and working environment of Gateway Language Village because it offers him a way to share various ways of improving one's English.
